"The Carmel of Baja"

Todos Santos is a home to painters, sculptors, and artisans. In Todos Santos, the mission Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz, was founded by father Jaime Bravo in 1723. This church still stands today, but is known as Nuesta Señora del Pilar de Todos Santos.

Known for its fertile land and abundance of water, Todos Santos was the ideal place to grow sugar cane. In 1850 there were eight sugar mills. For nearly 100 years the sweet rewards of a working community led to the building of beautiful colonial style buildings. Today, many of those buildings are being restored.

Todos Santos is located 1 hour south of La Paz & 1 hour north of Cabo San Lucas at the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.
The town looks towards the Pacific Ocean amongst the greens of rich farm crops, palm groves, mango & avocado trees & the canebrakes of the Valle del Pilar. Only 2 miles from the Ocean , visitors can enjoy the nearness of beaches & surf, in town stroll past colonial buildings, the mission of Nuestra Senora del pilar de Todos Santos, beautiful gardens & much, much more. The town is home to painters, sculptors, artisans, writers & intellectuals. Todos Santos is always a good 10-15 degrees cooler than Cabo San Lucas & La Paz so it is a wonderful vacation destination year round!! Todos Santos offers world-class dining, first-rate accommodations, the finest in art galleries & interesting shops plus wonderful outdoor recreational activities & beaches!!

Todos Santos has recently been named a PUEBLO MAGICO (or "MAGICAL TOWN") by the Mexican national government - a distinction that signifies its uniquely authentic historic and artistic charm.

This brings with it an infusion of public capital into the community for expanding infrastructure within the community and for linking Todos Santos to surrounding communities over the next 10-20 years.

Currently, there are approximately 30 such communities with this distinction in the country and this status shows, not only the Mexican government's commitment to the community, but the promising future of Todos Santos, El Pescadero and surrounding towns that have already experienced notable growth and improvement in the past ten years.
